There are some evidences of the circulation F. tularensis in rodents, livestock, human populations, surface waters western parts Iran. In this study, we investigated exposure livestock ranchers endemic regions Blood samples were collected from 289 sheep, 103 cattle, 51 2018. Animal sera tested standard tube agglutination method. The specific IgGs against evaluated ELISA sera. Moreover, extracted DNAs 50 sheep spleen using TaqMan real-time PCR for presence ISFtu2 FopA genes. All animal negative tularemia. Of samples, two seropositive one sample showed borderline status Serologic evidence but results indicates different transmission routes populations Therefore, drinking contaminated water, contact wildlife or rodents arthropod bite should be considered as probable suspicious areas.

Virulence Differences Among Francisella tularensis Subsp. tularensis Clades in Mice

Francisella tularensis subspecies tularensis (type A) and holarctica (type B) are of clinical importance in causing tularemia. Molecular typing methods have further separated type A strains into three genetically distinct clades, A1a, A1b and A2. Epidemiological analyses of human infections in the United States suggest that A1b infections are associated with a significantly higher mortality rat...

Identification of Francisella tularensis Cluster in Central and Western Europe

We conducted a molecular analysis of Francisella tularensis strains isolated in Switzerland and identified a specific subpopulation belonging to a cluster of F. tularensis subsp. holarctica that is widely dispersed in central and western continental Europe. This subpopulation was present before the tularemia epidemics on the Iberian Peninsula.

Francisella tularensis: an Overview

F rancisella tularensis was first isolated in 1912 from rodents suffering from a plague-like disease in Tulare County, Calif. Subsequently, investigators learned that this small, gram-negative bacterium infects many animal species and is associated with a wide range of diseases. In humans, the bacterium causes a serious, sometimes fatal disease, called tularemia, which is also known as rabbit f...
